Abused & Mocked by the Soldiers (Thursday)
On Thursday of Holy Week, read the biblical account of what the Roman soldiers did to Jesus before he was crucified.
- Read Matthew 27:27-31
Ask these reflection questions:
- Why did the soldiers do this to Jesus? (They were making fun of Jesus for being a King because everyone thought that Jesus would have an army and overthrow Rome. But he was not that kind of King. He came not to take life but to give life to everyone who believes.)
- Why did Jesus let them beat him and make fun of him? (to fulfill his purpose of giving up his life for us.)
