Where Everybody Knows Your Name
Do you ever look around the Worship Center and notice several people you don’t know? Acts 2:42 MSG tells us that the believers “committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers.” Is it time for you to “commit to a life together” at First Christian? Possibly do more than introduce yourself to someone you don’t know? How about joining with fellow believers in a life group or a Bible study? The result could be as Acts 2:47 MSG says, “Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.”
Authentic Community
“Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on.” Hebrews 10:24-25 MSG There are great stories about life groups carrying out the first part of the instruction. Couples going through the adoption process, parents dealing with sick children, people stressed from caring for aging parents and friends recovering from surgeries have experienced love and encouragement from their life groups. The second part is also important. Many small groups gather as one body to worship and celebrate God’s work in the lives of His people.
